Wildlife Watching & Photography Workshops on the Isle of Skye
with Stewart Dawber
Stewart Dawber
I have been a professional photographer for 25 years and a wildlife guide for 5 years. I have been observing, photographing and recording the behaviour of wildlife in the British Isles for as long as I can remember. I completed an HND in Photography in 2000 in south Wales and then completed my BA hons degree in Wildlife Photography in Lancashire in 2002 . I was fascinated with the practical techniques of wildlife photography and have been lucky enough to capture iconic Scottish species such as Eagles, Pine Marten and Red Squirrel and encountered some amazing animals on various locations in England, these include my absolute favourite’s like the Kingfisher, Otters, Owls and Foxes I studied on the lowland rivers in Devon. I have lived on the Isle of Skye since 2009. My quest to move to North West Scotland and work with Eagles in the rugged hills become real and these birds now test my skills to the full and I try and capture different images every year that show this iconic species in it natural habitat. Skye High Wildlife is now my main business and as your wildlife guide I can offer exciting encounters with the local wildlife here on Skye & nearby mainland, this is a bespoke service and you will not be sharing the experience with any other customers or groups. My tours are designed for clients who wish to encounter wildlife in a non invasive way that is not intrusive and doesn’t impact on the animal or birds natural behaviour. Please book with me to get the chance to watch specific wildlife including Golden Eagles, White tailed Sea Eagles, Eurasian Otters, Red and Roe Deer, Pine martens , Common and Grey Seals and an amazing array of Seabirds, I also welcome Photographers of all levels, beginners and amateur to experienced professionals with my own Wildlife Photography workshops which cover tuition, field craft, and all aspects of wildlife and landscape photography. I welcome young families with children of all ages who love the natural environment and enjoy wildlife. I complete my tours in a friendly calm way , on the children’s level and help make learning fun.Learning about Skye’s wildlife with Stewart was a real pleasure. He has a gentle, friendly approach and his love and respect for birds and animals is clear. It’s as though he has a sixth sense for nature – when we went otter-watching he always seemed to know what they were going to do, and we were able to get really close without disturbing them. Looking forward to my next trip – eagle spotting!
