Wildlife watching & photography on the Isle of Skye
The Isle of Skye is a stunning Island with lots of coastal habitats, just like most shores on the west coast of Scotland and its other Hebridean islands, Skye is the perfect home to the Eurasian Otter, I have been watching Otters on Skye for 23 years now and always get the same high every time I watch them either from a long distance or if I am up to my waist in tide water to get a careful close photo without disturbing them.
For a days Workshop you can join me with your camera whatever level photographer you are, beginners to hobby photographers welcome, even if you have a compact zoom or the basics in a DSLR or Mirrorless system we can get you set up and ready and have a relaxed no rush in looking for Otters while we go through techniques and settings for photography, if you are Professional you are also welcome to book a day and I can help you get the photo you desire.
Equipment I can supply clients are Binoculars / Camo bean bag / additional clothing to blend in if need be, best to bring your own footwear / waterproof boots or wellies are perfect and natural dark colour clothing that is quiet as can be? This tour is only for individuals, couples or a group up to 3 as getting close to Otters with a large amount of people is not suitable ?
What ever your camera model you have I be happy to enhance your knowledge more about using the camera in the field, telephoto lenses are a must have, a 300mm or longer is perfect although a 70-200mm on a APS system or a 1.4x teleconverter can be used. If you have a compact camera most zooms can reach long enough to match mid length telephoto .
I can give links to UK Camera / Lens hire companies that my clients & myself have used before and these cater for most Sony / Nikon / Canon / Fujifilm & Lumix users .
